Agriculture Minister Yukol Limlaengthong says the ministry is ready to register rubber farmers for the 2013/14 crop season after the cabinet has endorsed the National Rubber Policy Committee’s remedy package today.
He said registration of rubber farmers could begin from tomorrow until end of this month to be qualified for participation in the remedy scheme that will help the whole rubber industry from upstream to downstream on both short-term and long-term basis.
Registration will comprise three steps with the first step being the registration process that will take until September 30, followed by area inspection, and certification of documents, he said.
On the short-term remedy which was approved today, Mr Yokol said that the government will subsidize farmers for cost production at 1,260 baht per rai. But this will be limited to just less than 10 rai of farmland for each household who has right documents on their farmlands. A total of 991,717 farmers will be qualified for the subsidy, he added.
