Police confiscated 84,000 methamphetamine pills found in an abandoned fertiliser bag in Somdet district of Kalasin province on Monday night (Nov 27).
Pol Maj Gen Montree Jaranpong, the Kalasin police chief, said in a press briefing on Tuesday (Nov 28) that police and soldiers from 14th Cavalry Division were dispatched to Moo 9 village in Tambon Nong Waeng of Somdet district after being informed by an assistant village chief that a fertiliser bag was found abandoned in his rice field.
The authorities searched the bag and found 84,000 methamphetamine pills in it.
Pol Maj Gen Montree said the drugs might have been left in the rice field by drug traders for fear of being caught after the police mounted a suppression operation.
He believed the meth pills were smuggled from a neighbouring country.
Police were investigating to look for the culprits.
