More than 13 million low income earners have registered with authorities to receive state welfare after the one and a half month registration period ended yesterday.
Deputy director of the Fiscal Policy Office Mr Pornchai Theeravej said more than 13 million low-income earners have registered when the deadline for registration ended yesterday.
He said after the registration, the Finance Ministry will verify information and qualification of those who registered for state welfare.
He said those who registered could check if they meet all necessary qualifications stipulated for state welfare on August 1.
Welfare cards will be issued for them in September and they will receive cash handouts to be transferred to their bank accounts.
Under the welfare scheme for the low income earners, they will also get reduction for electricity and water supply bills.
The Finance Ministry will allocate the 50 billion baht budget to fund the scheme.
Meanwhile, the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives revealed that about 7.7 million people have registered with the banks.
Most of them or 3.2 million people live in the Northeast.
Out of this number, 460,000 people were indebted to informal loan deals.
A total of 3.62 million people live under the poverty line.
